Arab Board
The Arab Council’s Certification in Primary and Subspecialties (Requirements and Guidelines)
The Arab Council grants its certification in both primary and subspecialty fields. This professional certification is awarded to doctors after they have successfully met a series of academic and professional standards during their training, assessment periods, and examinations in various medical and healthcare specialties. The certification ensures that the doctor has acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver healthcare of the highest quality and standards, based on the latest global scientific and medical guidelines in their specialty.
Primary Specialties
A primary specialty refers to a field in medicine or healthcare in which registration is accepted after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
Subspecialties
A subspecialty is a field that branches from a primary specialty, and registration is accepted only after successful completion of the primary specialty training.

What is the Egyptian Board Fellowship?
The Egyptian Fellowship is a clinical medical certification that follows the Ministry of Health’s regulations and relies on hands-on training (“on-job training”). It is modeled after various clinical certification systems worldwide, including the British Fellowship and the American Board. A young doctor joins the Egyptian Fellowship in a specific medical specialty, undergoing graduated training over a period of 3 to 6 years. After successfully completing theoretical and clinical exams, the doctor receives the Fellowship certification in that specialty and is recognized as a specialist.
• The Egyptian Fellowship was established by Prime Minister Decision No. 3 of 1998.
• The Egyptian Fellowship is a training program under the Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt.
• The Egyptian Fellowship certificate was recognized as a professional certificate by the Supreme Council of Universities in 2007.
• The Egyptian Fellowship is a professional degree focusing on documented clinical and practical training that prepares doctors to reach a high level of skill, similar to the British Fellowship, the American Board, and the Arab Board. Doctors are awarded the Egyptian Fellowship after completing their training and passing the final exam.
Fellowship of the Egyptian Board (F.E.B):
• The Egyptian Fellowship is recognized by the Saudi Board, the Arab Board, and local bodies in Arab countries.
• Registration in the Egyptian Fellowship allows doctors to also register in the Arab Board in the same specialty, provided they apply for Arab Board registration immediately after completing their training, and only if they have trained in a hospital accredited by the Arab Board. Doctors cannot request a change of specialty to register for the Arab Board.
